My work with the Surfrider Foundation San Francisco chapter focused on protecting our local coastlines through a combination of creative programming and legislative advocacy. I helped with event planning for Message in a Bottle, a community-centered art and education project designed to inspire ocean conservation through collaboration. On the ground, I organized beach cleanups, collaborated on infrastructure projects like our cigarette 'butt can' installations, and worked to bridge the gap between individual habits and systemic change through the Ocean Friendly Restaurants program. I also took a direct role in policy work, meeting with San Francisco supervisors to advocate for and ultimately help pass the city’s plastic straw ban - work that led to me being featured on KQED on two separate occasions.
